The Publisher Series: Elise By Olsen in Conversation with Alexandra Gordienko
15.10.2020 / Alexandra Gordienko is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Marfa Journal that she self-founded back in 2013. Marfa Journal is a cult magazine created by artists for artists, inspired by the elusive artworld city Marfa in Texas, and to state Gordienko’s own words; the perfect playground for artists and photographers.
Since the beginning, Alexandra has grown her publishing empire beyond the Journal, with the release of her spinoff magazine MARFamily, a series of art books as well as MARFOFFICE, a creative bureau for special projects.
For the International Library of Fashion Research’s ‘The Publisher Series’, director Elise By Olsen conducts in-depth conversations with leading contemporary fashion publishers; from micro-press to media conglomerates. What is fashion publishing today, and what has it been? This ongoing series introduces the very fundamental basis of the library; the publishers – pulling out publications from the library’s permanent collection to create corresponding conversations with the people behind them.
