The Collector Series: Vince Aletti
15.10.2020 / Vince Aletti is a critic and curator based in New York. He has built what is likely the largest personal collection of magazines in the world. In 2019, Aletti published "Issues: A History of Photography in Fashion Magazines" with Phaidon, which is a book based on his private collection of magazines and books related to fashion photography.
International Library of Fashion Research’s inaugural ‘The Collector Series’ is a questionnaire with the people and premises our library is founded upon; the collectors. With the acceleration of fast fashion and disposable mentalities, fashion printed matter has oftentimes been produced, published and presented, then trashed, thrown away or simply forgotten about. This ongoing series tells the stories of people who have guarded this material over the course of the years and grown it into incredible, personal fashion collections, altogether representing a wider perspective on the past, present and future of fashion publishing.
